Controlling the Heating and Air conditioning at MS-P 

New split units have been installed in the Wood and Metal Shops in Purcellville. Both units respond to Alexa commands, but you must be in the Green Room in order to give these commands. The Alexa device is currently located near the Desktop computer. 

Note: Units are set to provide heating from something in September of October until about May. Cooling is provided from around May through September/October. 

A posting is made to the Purcellville Slack Channel when the changeover is made. 

Heating

You may use the following commands to turn on the Heat in the Shops.
For the Wood shop:
Say, "Alexa, Wood Shop Heat On"
For the Metal shop:
Say, "Alexa, Metal Shop Heat on"
Alexa should reply with "Ok"
When you are leaving and are the last person in the shop (or at any point), to turn off the heat 
Say, "Alexa, Wood Shop Heat Off"
or
"Alexa, Metal Shop Heat Off"
If you are at home, ready to go to one of the shops, and you would like for the shop to warm up while you are driving, you can visit the following web site and click on the button for the shop that you would like to warm up.

Notes: 
The heating temperature for the Wood and Metal shop is fixed at 68 degrees. The temperature is automatically set back at 9pm each evening to 62 degrees. If you are in the Wood or Metal Shop after that time and need heat you will have to go to the Green Room and ask Alexa to turn the heat on again ("Alexa, Wood/Metal Shop Heat On").

You should no longer use the Propane heater in the wood shop. 

Cooling

For the Wood shop 
Say, “Alexa, Wood shop cool on”
For the Metal shop
Say “Alexa, Metal shop cool on”
When you are leaving and are the last person in the shop (or at any point), to turn off the cooling 
Say, "Alexa, Wood Shop cool Off"
or
"Alexa, Metal Shop cool Off"
The cooling temperature for the Wood and Metal shop is fixed at 70 degrees. The temperature is automatically set up at 10pm each evening to 80 degrees. If you are in the Wood or Metal Shop after that time and need cooling, you will have to go to the Green Room and ask Alexa to turn the cooling on again ("Alexa, Wood/Metal shop cool On").
